Back Pain Sebring, FL

Back Pain

Are you suffering with LOW BACK PAIN?

Well, first of all, you should know that you’re not alone. Nearly 80 percent of Americans will suffer with low back pain at some point in their life and 100 million Americans constantly suffer with chronic low back pain. But there’s good news. Chiropractic has been shown to be highly effective at removing low back pain. In fact, it’s been shown to be five times more effective than non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and at a fraction of the cost.

So, what exactly causes low back pain?

There can be a myriad of causes to low back pain. Muscle strains, trauma, poor posture habits, disease, nerve compression, disc involvement, genetic tendencies, and even referred pain from visceral (organs) are just a few possible causes to low back pain. This is precisely why you really need a trained professional to correctly diagnose and get to the root of the problem. At Serralta Chiropractic, we have the knowledge, expertise, and tools necessary to discover the root of your low back pain. Although, at Serralta Chiropractic we obtain consistent and excellent results with low back pain, I believe it is paramount that we first determine the cause of the pain before attempting to remove it.

Is the pain the REAL problem?

Actually, pain is simply the visible manifestation of the actual condition. It is the smoke alarm ringing but it is not the fire. Too often, pain medication is given without any consideration for what exactly is causing the pain. The opioid crisis is proof of that. Doctors, like any good fireman, must find the cause of the ringing alarms before disconnecting them.

Herein lies the beauty of Chiropractic. The human body is beautifully engineered to run and heal itself. The nervous system, which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, and its nerves, is the master controller of the entire human body, even to the cellular level. Nerves are the telephone lines that the brain uses to detect and control all body functions. But if one of our back bones we call vertebra get out of alignment, they can interfere and even pinch upon these exiting nerves. We call this misalignment a subluxation. This compression will interfere with effective communication of the brain and body. The result? Pain. That’s right. The body tries to communicate to us that there’s a problem. That communication comes in the form of a painful sensation. As uncomfortable as it is, the pain is not the problem. The pinched nerve is.

So, what do we do about it?

A simple and pain loss manual manipulation we call adjustments will effectively re-align and take pressure off of the exiting nerves and thus properly restore brain and body communication. The result? Pain disappears. Without a fire, alarms turn off. This is why I love my profession. We don’t technically remove pain. We get to the cause and the body turns off the pain. Safely, Effectively, But best of all, without medication. At Serralta Chiropractic, my primary job is to first determine if you belong with us. The bottom line is that it your low back pain is coming from a vertebral misalignment, I own it. I can help you.

What if my low back pain is not from misalignment?

Although, I find that most of the patients that suffer with low back pain have
subluxations, and, therefore, able to be helped with chiropractic care, there are those that have low back pain for other reasons not treatable with conservative care. It is my duty and responsibility to correctly diagnose and, if needed, refer to the proper health care professional. I have been practicing in Sebring, Florida for more than 27 ears and have gotten to know and work with many great professionals who are experts in their field. When you come to Serralta Chiropractic you’re not just getting a chiropractic viewpoint. You’re getting an unbiased diagnosis to get to the root of your problem for the purpose of getting the best possible outcome.

Degenerative Disc Disease Sebring, FL

Degenerative Disc Disease

It is clear that low back pain can develop as a result of a bulging or herniated disc. The level of pain and discomfort that a herniation produces can be quite severe and debilitating. Typical symptoms include sharp, stabbing, radiating pain that causes numbness, tingling, and at times even muscle weakness. Often, even something as simple as coughing or sneezing will elicit immediate and excruciating pain. But there is good news. Not only can chiropractic care help and even resolve disc involved low back pain, but also more and more orthopedists and neurosurgeons are recommending conservative care in the form of physical therapy and chiropractic manipulation before considering a surgical solution. The reason is simply because it is cost- effective, noninvasive, and it works. However, a small percentage of disc involvement will require a neurosurgical evaluation. At Serralta Chiropractic in Sebring, we are trained and experienced to be able to correctly diagnose, treat, or, if needed, refer you to the appropriate professional in order to obtain the best resolution for your low back pain.

headaches migraines Sebring, FL

Headaches/ Migraines

Headaches and migraines are not just painful, but, as anyone who suffers from them can attest, they can severely affect you physically, emotionally, and even limit your ability to function in activities of daily living. First of all, we should be aware of the noticeable difference between a typical headache and a migraine headache. There are a number of warning signs that precede the onset of a classical migraine headache Irritability, increased sensitivity to light or sound, and even visual and/or auditory signals called aura that appear like sparks, bright dots or zig-zags are all classic symptoms that arise shortly before the onset of a migraine headache. As painful and irritating as headaches may be, the migraine is usually far more debilitating.

The good news is that chiropractic has been shown to be highly effective at treating both the typical headache and the more aggressive and crippling migraine headache. There is an abundance of evidence showing the effectiveness of chiropractic in the treatment of headaches. Nervous system irritation will commonly be the culprit behind the onset of a headache. When vertebrae are not in proper alignment, puts pressure on sensitive nerves and begins a cascade of events that results in dysfunction. Headaches and migraines can be the signals the body uses to warn us of this dysfunction. Not only can chiropractic be effective at removing headaches, but maintaining proper spinal alignment can resolve and and even stop the onset of the headache altogether. The idea of regular dental visits in order to prevent cavities is well known. Not as many realize that regular chiropractic care can prevent headaches and migraines as well!

SO HOW DO WE TREAT HEADACHES?

The type of treatment for headaches or migraines that will be required will depend primarily on the cause of the condition. As with most conditions, there can be many causes of headaches and migraines ranging from stress, environmental factors, chemical factors, vascular factors, hormonal factors, and neurological factors. At Serralta Chiropractic in Sebring it is our duty to determine the source of your headache and find an effective treatment protocol. As stated earlier, nerve irritation caused by spinal misalignment is the common cause. Simple and painless spinal adjustments without the use of drugs can often bring about complete resolution of these painful symptoms in most patients. Dr. Serralta will work closely with you to identify the root of your migraines or headaches and form a specific plan in order to resolve this painful condition,

neck pain Sebring, FL

Neck Pain

Sadly, millions of Americans suffer from neck pain and quickly find out how difficult it can be to find pain relief. Chiropractic has been shown to be extremely effective at treating and resolving many conditions causing neck pain. At Serralta Chiropractic in Sebring, we have had over 27 years of proven track record for successfully and effectively treating neck pain with natural, non-invasive, drug free, and cost effective methods. Continue reading to learn more of how Serralta Chiropractic can help you obtain relief.

The first step in resolving neck pain is to identify the source of the pain. At Serralta Chiropractic. we utilize an array of diagnostic tools and techniques to focus on the cause of your pain. A problem is half solved once you have correctly identified its cause.

Our spine houses a most important system: The nervous system. This system made up of the brain, spinal cord, and its nerves is the master controller of all other systems in our bodies. These nerves act like telephone lines sending and receiving messages to and from the master computer (our brain). If the spine is out of alignment. this communication can be affected and even interrupted causing muscles to seize and tighten. As painful as this may be, the muscles guard simply to protect the frame from any further damage This is why it is so important to know the cause before removing these alarm signals we call pain. Once the spine is realigned, the pressure is released and muscles simply relax. This usually resolves the painful condition.

Poor posture can magnify this reaction of the muscles and even lead to chronic pain with long term damage. Some common examples of activities that can bring about poor posture and its lasting effects include improper positions while sitting at work in front of a computer, performing repetitive movements for extended periods of time, and carrying heavy backpacks, purses, and briefcases Smart devices (smart phones, tablets, etc) are becoming a prevalent cause of neck related conditions These devices put our bodies in a state of physical stress which creates poor posture habits and leads to chronic neck pain.

Allowing the neck pain and these misalignments to go untreated is a mistake. Worse yet, individuals that push through it and ignore the symptoms or resort to treating the symptoms with anti-inflammatories or pain killers, are asking for long term trouble. Even if the pain subsides, the underlying cause remains and reoccurrence of the neck pain will not be avoided. By ignoring or not properly treating these misalignments of the spine, an individual unknowingly sets themselves up for more injuries that may require more invasive procedures in order to correct. At Serralta Chiropractic in Sebring, Dr. Serralta will carefully collect the necessary data needed to get to the root of your neck pain and formulate the most cost effective, non-invasive approach in order to find the best resolution for your neck pain. We are always available to answer any questions you may have Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions or click on the New Patient special to receive a free no- obligation consultation.

Pinched Nerve Sebring, FL

Pinched Nerve

A pinched nerve can happen in a variety of places throughout the body with some of the most common being the lower spine, wrists, neck, and legs. A pinched nerve occurs when the muscles or tendons around the nerve are inflamed, putting pressure on the nerve and either causing pain or even numbness throughout the extremities related or attached to this affected nerve.
Your pinched nerve may be caused by different physical conditions such as carpal tunnel or a herniated disc. Though pinched nerves can be painful, the majority of patients find that their pinched nerve(s) goes away on its own.

If the pinched nerve does not resolve itself and you have persistent pain that lasts for more than a few days, you should seek medical attention by scheduling an appointment at Serralta Chiropractic with our chiropractor. This is especially true if you’ve tried at-home treatments but feel like your pain is worsening as time progresses. With pinched nerves, it’s important to seek medical attention in order to identify the underlying cause of the pinched nerve to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Whiplash Sebring, FL

Whiplash

According to the American Chiropractic Association, one of the most common causes of neck pain is whiplash resulting from a car accident. A sudden forced movement of the head or neck in any direction and the resulting “rebound” in the opposite direction is known as whiplash. The sudden “whipping” motion injures the surrounding and supporting tissues of the neck and head. Muscles react by tightening and contracting, creating muscle fatigue, which can result in pain and stiffness. Severe whiplash can also be associated with injury to the intervertebral joints, discs, ligaments, muscles, and nerve roots.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Sebring, FL

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

CTS is a problem of the median nerve which runs from the forearm into the hand. When there is excessive pressure in the wrist, it causes swelling of the median nerve. This small area called the carpal tunnel is a narrow tunnel at the wrist made up of bones, soft tissues, nerves, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. When the median nerve which runs through this tunnel gets compressed it causes pain, weakness, numbness or tingling in the hand and wrist which radiates into the forearm. The carpal tunnel is the most common area that gets compressed in both the hands and feet.

CTS should be diagnosed and treated early. During your consultation, you will receive a standard physical examination of the hands, arms, shoulders and neck to help determine if your symptoms are related to daily activities or to an underlying disorder. Our highly skilled chiropractor will also utilize other orthopedic tests to try to produce the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Laboratory tests and x-rays can reveal diabetes, arthritis, fractures, and other common causes of wrist and hand pain.
